Unreleased Figures (Scheduled release was Fall 2001)

Here we have a glimpse of what might have been, and what most likely will never be: 12-inch action figures of Cypher, "Matrix" Morpheus and Agent Smith. (A Martial Arts version of Morpheus was released in 12-inch scale).

Intended for a Fall 2001 release, these three figures were displayed at Toy Fair back in February of 2001, and would have comprised the second series of 12" Matrix figures. But the bankruptcy of N2 Toys led to the demise of these figures.

And what a shame! Now that all the Matrix films have come and gone, fans will probably never see a 12" action figure of Cypher. Perhaps if these three figures came out instead of more versions of Neo and Trinity, N2 would have made enough sales to continue on. (Any one want a Real World Neo figure? Didn't think so.)

Points of Articulation: N2 Toys would have most likely used the same body mold as the male figures from the previous wave. Therefore, these figures would have articulation at the wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, waist, hips, knees, elbows and ankles.

Weapons/Accessories: From the picture of all three figures together, it looks like Cypher is holding a gun. Most likely, it is the same Colt 45 gun that came with Neo and Trinity. No doubt, Agent Smith would have also come with this gun. And in the photo at the top of this page, Smith's sunglasses are not on his face, implying that the shades would have been removeable.

In the photo of Morpheus above, there are two guns near his feet. One is probably again the same Colt 45 gun, while the other looks like a scaled-up version of the shotgun that came with the 6" version of Morpheus.
